Right on Mainstreet in Hopkins MN 55343, just a short walk from the Hopkins Center for the Arts area, we recently helped a local business with their metaldoor security and safety. The door had an older setup that wasn’t working well and the owner wanted something code compliant and easier for customers and staff. We installed a new panic bar on the inside and a new outside handle with a mortise lock so the door works smooth from both sides.
The photos show the new commercial panic bar installed across the door and the exterior pull handle with mortise cylinder. This type of setup is common for retail and restaurant doors in Hopkins where fire code requires safe exit hardware. We mounted the exit device (or panic bar as we call it) so it latches clean into the strike and adjusted the mortise lock so the outside handle engages proper with the latch.
